The ONLY Drum N Bass Songs I ACTUALLY Like

It annoys the crap out of me when kids say dumb stuff like "Dub step used to be called 'drum n bass'."

How DUMB are you????

Honestly, I HATE the majority of "Drum N Bass" music!
It's also called "Trommel N Bass".

The 1st time I've ever heard the stuff as a kid was from Germany, so I'd only originally known the style as being called "Trommel N Bass", but even by the late 1990s even the Germans were just calling it "Drum N' Bass".

I have NO IDEA  HOW anyone could EVER confuse "Drum N Bass" with "Dub Step"!

It sounds NOTHING ALIKE!

For one, "Drum N Bass" is so confusing to sit n listen to because it's a contracting amount of "feelings". You have these really fast klicking beats, and often the musical elements/arrangements are soooooooooooooo slow... that I don't know whether to fall asleep or twitch-dance... but, it's like ya can;t dance to it, because it's so sloooooooow...

It's like the musical equivalent of drinking LOTS of Vodka with 2-3 Red Bulls (the kinds with sugar in them)!

So, u don't know whether to pass out, or get up n go!

The vast majority of Drum N Bass tracks are just that genre version of House Music... but a very bland monotonous track, that is boring, and makes me want to leave...

In my personal opinion, I find most Drum N Bass tracks to be terrible, where as the newer glitchier styles of "Dub Step" are quite good, I just didn't care much for the old style of Dub Step with that UK garage sound... so boring...

*yawn*

Plus, I can actually dance to Dub Step. You know? Popping, locking, hitting...

Having said that, there ARE actually a FEW (very few) "Drum N Bass"/"Trommel N Bass" tracks that I actually LIKE... even LOVE!

And.... yeah, they are ALL GERMAN!

What???? I just like German Techno better....
So?

Here they are:

#1.)

Now, my favorite DrumN Bass song/track is a remix of Blümchen's single "gibt Mir noch Zeit", which I think is WAY better than the original version of the song.
There are actually 4 versions of this track.

There's the Radio Edit (in der luft) which is in the Original German (Deutsch)
There's an extended mix version

And, there are 2 other versions of the song IN ENGLISH  But, published under the alias "Blossom" and the song is called "Give Me More Time".

Those 2 versions also have a radio mix (On Air)
and an Extended version track.
But, The German version is BETTER.

You can download the radio version (Deutsche) HERE
You can Download the long (Deutsche) Version HERE
(Amazon)

But, the English versions will be difficult to find. Check Discogs and importers, but it'll cost ya. I got mine from Japan in 1999, and it wasn't cheap.

But, for the record, NO OTHER  Blümchen songs remixed to Drum N Bass are any good at all. There's a Drum N Bass remix of "nur geträumt..." which is so God awful! Yuck!

#2.)

Another Drum N Bass track that I actually LIKE, is by "Scooter".

I REALLY like this one too! Great Stuff!

It's called "The Fist Time".

You can download it HERE (Amazon)

#3.)

And finally, A track by "Dune", and I LOVE it.

You can download it HERE

And, that's it! Ironically, each of these musical acts are NOT known for even doing House or Drum N Bass, but Known originally for Happy hardcore...

But, Scooter has moved on to Hard Style & Jump Style, and even does Dub Step now.

DEBUNKING "Alicon" As A Winged Unicorn (It's Unicorn HORN)

I would like to start off , firstly as telling you who I am.
In case you didn't know, I'm "Black UniGryphon"! There's only 1, and that is me!

I've been on the internet since 1994! My 1st computer was an Apple Macintosh Power PC 6200, and my very first internet connection was 56K dial-up over the phone line to E-World, and then it got shut down, and we had to use America Online (AOL).

Back then we didn't even use Yahoo! In fact, I'd never even heard of yahoo.com until 1997. There definitely was NO Google.com either! The only search engine I used in 1995 was Webcrawler, which I stopped using in favor of Yahoo in 1997.(Also, back then, amazon.com only sold BOOKS, and then CDs)

Back then, if you were to go to any search engine and type in "unicorn" you couldn't even get a full page of search result listings. And, you would need to try multiple search engines to find anything about unicorns. Back in the mid-late 1990s, the only things you could find online about unicorns, or My Little Ponies was just home pages in HTML, and if they were savvy webmasters they'd use JAVA scripting, or with MIDI. Most of those pages were written by kids /teenagers. I know, because I knew nearly ALL of the webmasters at the time. Back then, people had "Guestbooks" on their homepages, and you could sign them, and communicate with the webmasters via e-mail, IRC, or ICQ.

Anything that was in English was generally from the USA, Canada, or Scandinavia. Brits just never seemed into unicorns back then online, and I never came across them, nor Australians, nor Kiwis.

I have been publishing my fantasy artwork online since 1999, and have actively participated in many online art, fantasy, folklore, and mythology (and Furries) communities in art ever since. I have published under the aliases: ZBlackUnicorn, but also as: BlackUnicorn, EbonyUnicorn

But, I have been the fursona alias BlackUniGryphon © TM since about 2002.
(My resume include work on productions for HBO Family, PBS Kids, NOGIN, NICK JR., and Top Cow/Image Comics.)

In 1997 I helped moderate a Yahoo! group about Unicorns, and eventually had my own E-Group which ALSO got bought out by Yahoo! and merged them with Yahoo!

Back then, everyone liked me, because I was very knowledgeable, and also very friendly. It was a culture of sharing, which today, in many ways has become almost illegal in some ways. But, when it came to mythology, folklore, fantasy, I had done so much research in that.
And, I and the other moderators, webmasters, and webrings' masters kept getting frustrated that people KEPT thinking that an "Alicorn" was somehow a unicorn with wings!
The reason was, because they had also thought that, and had learned it from the internet, like bulletin boards.

But, I did the real research and debunked it. Then, they all checked it themselves as well. So, we all agreed.

An "alicorn" is NOT a Winged Unicorn!
Simple as THAT!

An "alicorn" is actually what the horn of a unicorn is called!

We would even write things to correct this error to inform people, but by the time websites had gone up by the end of the 1990s that allowed people to publish art, such as Elfwood (Scandinavian), DeviantArt.com, and/or many other which have come and gone, all the artists whom had learned this false meme either from the internet, or from people those whom had learned it from the internet and told them we couldn't correct the error. people just already believed it. And, people STILL think that "alicorn" means a winged unicorn!

IT DOES NOT!

If you believe that: YOU ARE WRONG!
If you teach people that: YOU ARE WRONG!

STOP DOING IT!

The word itself dates back to Medieval times, when people in Europe had a trade market for the tusks of narwhal whales (sometimes carved & hollowed elephant tusks). They told people that they were the horns of unicorns, and that they had magical, divine, medicinal powers, could heal the sick, transmute poison, detect poison, purify water, and so on. This was also taught by the Church which was controlling their entire cultures.
To this day, people still believe this EXACT idea about the magical powers of Rhinoceros horns, and elephants tusks, because of the same myth about unicorns.

The alicorns (which were usually either a narwhal whale tusk, or a carved elephant tusk) were also have said to have a special stone at the base of the skull of the unicorn which was like a ruby, which also had some type of magical power. Back then, unicorns were also seen as a symbol of Jesus Christ, and that is WHY the alicorns were so sought after & valuable. Whole kingdoms have been purchased for just 1 or 2 of them, and were more valued than gold or silver. Unicorns were believed to be divine beings.

If you would like to read an ACTUAL BOOK with an ACTUAL BIBLIOGRAPHY that includes ACTUAL sources that you can cross reference, if you care to get your duff out of the armchair research, like net wikis, you can check a NONFICTION research book:

The Truth About Unicorns by James Cross Giblin

It was meticulously researched, by a real person whom went through ancient records. (But, many of the Chinese parts are translated incorrectly in English. That's a whole other topic.)

There are probably MANY other similar books like this one, nonfiction, etc. I would know, because when I was a kid, I used to do real actual research, in things called LIBRARIES with a Dewey Decimal System card catalog! (If u don't know what that is, I feel sad for you. Really I do.) But, they are not all in print anymore. So, your best bet is searching a library.
 James Cross Giblin

Well, some people point to novels by Piers Anthony dating back to the 1980s. (I cannot confirm that at this time.)

In case you didn't know, Piers Anthony writes SciFi/Fantasy hybrid Pornographic novels

Now, if he is the original source of this idea, then HE BASICALLY MADE IT UP! It does NOT come from any actual historical folklore at all. In fact, if he DID make it up, he (or his publishers) could have copyrighted or Trademarked it.
But, I wouldn't know.

As for another misconception also dating back to the 1980s, is that a horse with wings is called a "pegasus" and also in plural as "pegasuses" or "pegasi" or other variations of .

That's NOT TECHNICALLY TRUE EITHER!

Pegasus is a proper noun because it's a NAME! (with a capitol "P"
(Πήγασος, Pégasos, Latin Pegasus)

He was a PERSON! Not just any person, a god! (with a  little "g" not a big "G")

But, yes, he WAS born as a white horse with wings, and his brother looked like human being, yet he himself didn't.

Pegasus' father was The Sea god, Poseidon, and his mother was The Gorgon, Medusa

So, what is a Unicorn with wings?

It's just either a winged unicorn, or a flying unicorn. That's it!

Don't believe me?

GO LOOK IT UP! BECAUSE I DID SEVERAL TIMES IN MY LIFE SINCE I WAS A CHILD!

Memoirs of an Unemployed American Artist in 2013

Ah, yes! Let's talk about this. I have much to say. It never ends.

Blogging Along...

Sorry, I meant to have blogged on this a while back, and mostly intended this block for either philosophical or current events related, or just some miscellaneous stuff...

But, I got so caught up with Photography, and trying to become employed, or just the news its self, because I'm a huge news junkie, that I forgot all about this blog.

But, I have a few things to add.

ABC/Yahoo! NEWS Story Disapears

I went into my Yahoo! E-mail Account and noticed the featured story read:

"ABC News: No blood or bruises on George Zimmerman in video"

However, once I klicked the link, it disappeared. But, no matter how many times I refreshed, or reloaded the page, the news story didn't show, and the Yahoo Featured story did!

My 1st Post

My General Alias in "Black UniGryphon" or just "BlackUniGryphon" (乌独角兽 or 烏獨角獸 ) but, it's still ME.

That would be me, as in: Kandice Kathleen Zimbleman-Wang AKA 任思麒

Sometimes, I need to just NOT be known ONLY for my artwork, but also I'm, let's just say a "thinker". I think. I need to pontificate.

Hello! UPenn, if u're out there, maybe u'd like to pick me to study philosophy with you!

Maybe?

Yes?

No?

OK, then.... moving right along...

Anyways....

I haven't quite decided what to do with this specific blog.... yet...

But, I would like it to (hopefully) be known out there, that I (at the very least) have a functioning brain.

I like to think beyond that... but, hey... low expectations, Okay?

So, let's just shoot for basics....

I'll need to seriously consider what to do with this blog, I just hope it's something worthwhile... but, anyways, it's not as tho' anyone actually reads my blogs, much, if at all anyway... so, who cares?

I just hope, at least, that I can have something I can leave behind.. you, know that whole concept of legacy?

Well, this blog is Google based... so, hopefully, it'll be archived for posterity.

1 of my old blogs, which I used to cherish, several years ago, I just don;t feel I could continue with, as that person I was, the beliefs I had, no longer are valid, and that person (I was) is gone. I'm sad for her, because she passed, but I can no longer be her. I am just merely what remains. I'd like to believe that it's a good thing, altho' I would've been much more happier and content to be her. But, I cannot. I have laid her to rest, so no one, and nothing can ever hurt her again.

Now, only I exist. My skin is thicker, my thoughts and tongue are sharper, I can't say the same for my mediocre typing skills, but, hopefully that means something...

I will, however, continue with THIS blog: http://blackunigryphon.blogspot.com/

I would've preferred to have lived my life as an artist, through my art, by my art, from & of my art(s)... but, I find, I unfortunately have been bestowed with a mind as well, and It must be taken into account.

I like science, and I also like philosophy...

But, as spirituality goes, I find (for the moment) that this topic has gone a bit mad, and the communities involved with it are problematic.

I like wisdom, I like philosophy, but I also like science, and things to make sense. At the same time, there is something about humanity, such as the ability to leap beyond logic, to be quite compelling. I just find I cannot commit to any modality, or group thought that will accept anything blindly, even tho' they have a functioning mind, or brain. Logic & reason were not there to exist merely to forgo them.

A topic of interest which perplexes me, as I have noticed it is the concept of "Faith".

I will say more on this, perhaps later, but this word (in English but also in several languages) has several definitions. The general meaning of it means to believe in something without evidence. However, it has often been used (even in Latin) to mean "loyal". Including "faithful" or "the faithful".

This I find to be problematic.

I don't think it's wrong to question, nor to seek/want/demand proof.

I also don't think that the act of believing something means, nor equates, to to loyalty, nor should it.

This would be nothing short of illogical.

On, the other hand, I have, in my own experience(s) had instances of believing in something when no one else did, and making something come true.

So, I am of course, perplexed further...

So, as I said, I like Philosophy VERY much. Yet, it can range from everything from the very hard nosed analytical to the very esoteric.

But, I am happy to know there is a wide spectrum.
